Quirk table

Procedural/mechanical rules will be differentiated in style from regular body text so they can be read independently of the fuller explanation text.

Looking at margin section dividers too for extra flickability.

  1. I love this so very much, its gotta make it in.

It did make me realize I've got a few typos in the main document, so I'll need to go over the quirks again another time or two.

    1. What do you think about the idea of visually separating out the procedural rules? (Like when you see code fragments in programming books)

You could write them out as easy to follow bullets lists so there is no ambiguity. Could have some if/else type statements too :-)

    2. Stuff like bullet lists and visual separation are really good - I think it makes the whole thing a lot easier to read. The trick is to keep the writing crisp and the pages visually interesting to contrast with the utility, but I'm pretty confident we can do that.

  2. You should be aware that I fully intend to abscond with this quirk table and use it sometime.

    1. Strangely looking forward to sketching up all 50 quirks Rey currently has planned. Some of them are pretty tough!

  3. This project is looking very interesting. Love the use of art as part of describing the rules themselves, instead of just decoration. And very nice art it is!

    1. Yes! The power of art/design is usually applied at the end as window dressing. That approach is certainly the most efficient (cost-effective) way to do things... but like good advertising I think magic happens when images and words combine to create richer/greater meaning, and so art/design needs to be in the mix early on.
