Mounts

Think my Largzard is less chunky than Rey was imagining, but was liking the ribbon/snake body vibe. Could see it coiling effortlessly over rocky terrain, and rearing up to strike.

Seeing the Rokko-do as having peacock-style plumes capable of displays that can pleasure even the most ostentatious knight.

Species development

Want to create easily recognisable visual traits for each race type (face shape, feature proportions, exotic elements and body types). Work-in-progress.

Rey, thinking maybe the Prometheans could have some subtle reptilian qualities?

I want to hear from you!

My dear and supportive wife gave our little project a bit of a bump yesterday and either I'm delusional or I saw at least a bit of increased activity. Most of my interaction is on Google + , which has a fairly active gaming community, and this blog. I neglect most other social networks! This is mostly out of necessity; I'm a bit oblivious at times and can really only keep up with so much.

So, to those theoretical new people who may be reading this (or heck, even one of you golden oldies who may be hanging around still) if you have any questions, concerns, or things you'd like to say, please feel free to comment on this blog! Hell, comment on this entry! I try to answer each of them, even if I'm a bit slow.

Anyway, some game material so this isn't just a floating post; feast your eyes on one of the pack animals included in the Sword Saga Playtest;

Grubbish: Enormous, multi-legged and fat, grubbish are awkward but stable beasts. These doughy creatures originated in the Mana Wastes, having only migrated outwards very recently. They've gained a certain popularity with travelers in spite of their various quirks - Or possibly as a result of them!

Most Grubbish have an odd, mask like face on the front of their bodies. Some rare specimens have an unnervingly human-like one instead.

  • 3 Hearts, +0 Attack, Aptitudes ( Grit and Might = 10, All Other = 4)
  • Grubbish are rather dull creatures, and will obey their owner without question.
  • May graze or be fed, well just about anything organic, really. They can ingest refuse and other toxic material without harm, This extends to an immunity to all non-magical poisons and all radiation as well.

Great weapons

Each weapon class will now get it's own spread.

Now added... weapon stunts (actions with bonuses when using the weapon) and flavour text for sample weapons.

(Sorry Rey, mangled your text when subbing to fit! Lot of typos!)

The Song

Long ago, I heard a sound.
It was soft at first, but swelled to a nearly unbearable resonance.
It was simple at first, but grew complex and wonderful.

The first notes brought forth a great shape.
The second ones, definition.
The sound continued, and the world was born.

My master sang it effortlessly,
and ended it with a whisper.
My master taught me the chorus,
but never the verse.

This song is mighty, I was told
If completed again, it would unravel the world
and leave the primordial in the singer's hands.

It must never again be sung, I was told.

My master is gone now
The world is twisted and broken
I must fix what has been ruined
I must hear that sound again.

Some entries from the Gear list...

Hey y'all - I know I'm taking my sweet time with this, but I may have a workable play-test on my hands! I just have to fill some cracks, organize things, etc. Anyway, the new goal is to have enough ready that I could feasibly run an impromptu game at Gencon. Let's see how that goes.

While I'm going on, I figure I'll post a few things I'm working on now. Here is some stuff from the section on stuff to spend your money on. I removed the numbers stuff since it's not as fun, though there is still some gamey language in the entries.

From the Combination Weapons Section...

Pistol Blade
As the name suggests, this is a bladed weapon with a small firearm built into its handle. Very popular among daring warriors who like to get in the first hit.

A Pistol Blade may be used as a Long-Grip Weapon in melee or as a Small Mechanical Missile weapon otherwise. It holds more ammunition than the standard models of these weapons and is able to shoot twice before needing to be reloaded.

A special Stunt may be attempted with this weapons, where the bearer strikes with the sword and fires the pistol portion simultaneously. If the attack is successful, a shot is expended and the attack does an additional heart of damage. If it misses however, the pistol aspect is damaged and must be repaired before that part of the weapon is used again.

From the Gadget Armor Section...

Anti-virulence
Gear (Bastion Armor)
Made from the hide and carapace of creatures that live in places where even the air is deadly, this armor protects the wearer from all non-elemental environmental effects, including the corrupting shadow or aeons old radiation. Thanks to a helmet with a built in rebreather, they are also protected from inhaled toxins.

Many of those who travel the Shadowed Lands and Mana Blight swear by this armor.
From the Adventurer's Gear Section...

Traveler's Bag: A traveler's bag is slung over the shoulder and counts as a single item for purposes of encumbrance, but can hold up to three other items (or one heavy item and one normal item) within. Cumbersome items will not fit in a traveler's bag without breaking one or the other. An item contained within the bag can be retrieved with a single combat round action.

From the Followers Section...

Scrappy: Some people are always ready for a fight, even if it’s not in their best interest. This hireling will assist the characters in combat whether they want them to or not, but sometimes any help will do.
  • 2 Hearts, +1 Attack, Aptitudes (All = 5), Cost: 2 GP/Job
  • Scrappys who survive their first go around will always offer to join the party permanently. They tend to be annoyingly insistent.
  • Carries a standard weapon, usually a club or other easily acquired weapon.
  • Will charge headlong into an enemy unless expressly told not to.
