Just another "we're still at it" update - Grey and I are going full speed ahead. Some more proofreading is done and now we are looking at through edits, final touch ups, and maybe some final organizational additions.
Hoping to have more news for you soon!
I just want to send some encouragement and kindness your way. I am so impressed with yall for working so faithfully on your book and every time I see it I can tell just how complete a labor of love it is. It shows through every element, big and small, and I hope you know that we're all on board for that. It will be such a wonderful work strictly because of the care and devotion put into it. Keep going - as long as it takes, as long as you're still having fun and as long as it keeps smiling back at you. All the best to everyone on your side!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :D
DeleteWe are getting there! Very excited to share this with everyone.
I think about Break!! at least once a week- still as excited as ever to see it coming along!

DeleteI'm excited to see steady progress on Break!!, which I've been following for a long time. I appreciated the recent editing stream, and was very interested to learn about damage, hearts, and wounds, which was included in the section you edited on stream. I think having a buffer of "free" damage and then increasingly serious consequences is a great design, and I like how the damage and health values are reduced to numbers you can count on one hand.
ReplyDeleteIf I understood correctly, the rule regarding wounds is that you roll for your first wound when you lose your last heart. As I've been thinking about this, I thought it would be an easier to remember rule if you don't roll for wounds until you take damage and have no hearts left (and perhaps reduce the number of hearts by one so that the amount of damage that can be taken before lasting consequences remains the same). This might be considered similar to how in Apocalypse World there are five experience markers on the character sheet even though you advance and clear experience as soon as you get your fifth XP. But I don't know enough about the other rules to tell whether making this a house rule would have unexpected consequences.
I'm looking forward to finding out when I can read the full rules!
I wrote it as such because I enjoy the rush of that climatic blow, but I think you could probably adjust it without much consequence in your game as well.
DeleteI'm glad I check back to this blog so frequently, I am always excited to see a new post and to hear how y'all are progressing (which sounds like 'smoothly so far!'). I am very excited to see what you two have in store - I can't wait to get my hands on the full rules! 😄
ReplyDeleteAnd we are excited to release them to you all!
