Occasionally I'll cut down and insert the printouts into a similar sized book and dream about the end result.
BREAK!! will be a fat book, 300+ pages (roughly the same size as the underlying book used here). Whist holding the chunky item in my hand I thought of two things:
- I should add a global content strip in the top margin so people know what order the main sections are in, this will remind them whether they need to flip forward or back. Also could be useful for links in the pdf!
- I should add a d20 into the margin! Flip to roll. Die numbers would be non-sequential so it would be harder to cheat it.
The global content strip is a fantastic idea, the little d20 in the margin is kind of amazing: you could theoretically play BREAK!! with just the book, a pencil and something to write on...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was hung up on using d6 as one point as they are universally available and I didn't want the dice required to be a barrier to play. This logic was even part of the rational to reduce the system to just a d20.
DeleteBut this means you're good to go with just the book!
I like the ideas of both the global strip and the d20. go for it.
DeleteThis looks amazing. I don't foresee myself utilizing the flip-for-roll idea but I like the visual. The new logo on the page could use a little something to make it stand out better, maybe even just a drop shadow or outline or even just a different flat color, but I really like the design.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I like the apparent size this mock-up suggests, similar to the D&D 4e Essentials books. I find them more practical for transport and like how it's evocative of manga collections.
DeleteI want to buy to book just because it look beautiful :D
