Cover thoughts (continued!)

The Battle Princesses+ Murder Princess are iconic Callings in Break!! and represent the power of love and hate respectively.

Also toying with putting the logo in a block so it can be dumped on any background!

Background photobashed! Maybe should have some ruins.

Older explorations Cover 1 + Cover 2

  1. Ha, wonderful!
The only thing I might push for is the inclusion of one or more characters for frame/style diversity - maybe the sample Factotum and Raider?

  2. I very much like how this cover looks. Also the background around the logo really works well. More characters would probably be a good idea, so that people don't think it's just a magical girl game. Maybe a more generic fantasy person and maybe some kind of robot to display the scope of Break!!

    1. Magical Girl Game, sounds good to me :-)

Gonna do a group shot one next...

  3. These are nice (and I *always* approve of Murder Princesses) but I kinda think that your first cover concepts (esp 'novel' and 'gamebox') might do a better job at suggesting that This Game is Something Different.

    1. Yes, I like the first stuff too! Beware overdesign + normalisation!

  4. I love you guys but not this cover direction. If you're going to have scantily clad women on the cover, then bring back the big beautiful orc lady. You can't make a grown ass man carry that book around the way it is now.

    1. I just want to add that I want to throw my money at you. Reynaldo and Grey you both are awesome.

    2. As stated this is really more of an experiment - I'm not adverse to scantily clad characters on the cover, but I'd want to have it balanced it out if we did (just to show off a wide range of characters, at the least).

One thing Grey and I did do was pass around the idea of actually have a couple different covers available as well, who knows.

    3. Thank you, Reynaldo. I'm sorry if I went SJW on you too hard. I'm really excited about this game. It was a knee jerk reaction admittedly. Keep up the great work.

    4. No worries, I'm a fairly social justicey type to be entirely honest so I felt they were valid concerns.

Ultimatey what's most important to me is that people can play a character they enjoy, and that wide variety of looks and style is validated in the art and writing itself.

    5. I feel you have been doing a great job of that and I can't wait for the finished product.
Completely unrelated but I've begun listening to your podcasts on Dark Fantasy now that I'm about to run Curse of Strahd and I just wanted to thank you again for all the wonderful insights.
